Chef/Owner Sean
Begin is not new to the restaurant industry. He boasts 20
years of experience. After moving to Nashville in 1994 to become
Sous Chef to Chef Willie Thomas, (owner of Park Café and Eastland Café), of the re-vamped
Capital Grille inside the historic Hermitage Hotel, he had worked all across
the country mastering culinary delights from rustic Italian cuisine at Cacina
Rustica in Vail, Colorado to French Classical at Café L’europe in
Palm Beach Florida. He also gained valuable experience at The Mansions at Ocean
Edge Resort, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. While at the Capital Grille, “Esquire” magazine
named it one of the top new restaurants to open that year.
After leaving, Sean took on the task of overseeing the startup and working as
Catering Chef with Big Guns Catering, an affiliate of Bound’ry Restaurant.
While at Big Guns Catering, the Tennessee Restaurant Association named him Chef
of the Year 2001. In the summer of 2002, Sean helped open Copper Kettle Café and
Catering in Green Hills to rave reviews. He has had the opportunity to cook for
numerous dignitaries and celebrities in the Nashville and surrounding areas.
A native Bostonian, Sean manages to bring a little southern flair to all his
dishes.
In the spring of 2007 Chef Sean left Copper Kettle and is
now ready for the next chapter of his culinary career. He and
his wife, Jill, opened "Daily
Dish" at 2205 Hillsboro Road December 10th, 2007 (inside the
once Grassland Grille) .The “Dish” will
be a combination of all Sean’s past experiences in the
industry. They live in the community and their son, Jon-Luc
goes to school at Grassland Elementary, so it just made sense
to have something close to home for friends and family. The
Grassland area is growing and they are excited to be a part
of the expansion.
Daily Dish is open for Lunch and Dinner from 10:30AM to 8:30PM
Monday to Friday. Traditional
Southern dishes can be chosen from the hot bar and deli case
or patrons can feel free to order one of the freshly made salads
or sandwiches. Saturday and Sunday will be family time for
the owners and employees and they will be closed. They
have not ruled out the possibility of opening on weekends sometime
in the future.
